Blues Dancing Workshop THIS SATURDAY!
Liberty Fusion is hosting a Single Day Blues Workshop and Dance with the Wilkersons this Saturday October 4th from 11AM to midnight at our usual venue at Concierge Ballroom!
The Wilkersons are International Blues Instructors, The Experiment Mentors, and impeccable dancers on top of their infectious energy and passion for Blues. We're stoked to be able to bring them to Philly to share that experience with you. We'll have a workshop during the day with several classes and a la carte options, then a dance in the evening similar to our regular events!

Afternoon Workshop: 11AM - 5PM
Evening DJ'ed Dance: 8PM-Midnight
Costs
Full Day Passes: $60-80 (Sliding Scale)
A La Carte, At-The-Door, Classes: $20/ea
Dance Only: Pre-registration $10, At-The-Door $15-25 (Sliding Scale)

Class Descriptions
Rhythmic Diversity in Blues:
Let's listen and break down the rhythms present in blues music! From straight time to shuffled beats to Latin rhythms, we'll listen and move to a variety of music and break down the instruments and rhythmic elements present in a variety of music.
Personifying Musical Instruments:
Our music isn't one-dimensional, and neither is our dance! Flowing winds, driving brass, and marching drums all ask for different textures, isolations, and rhythms. Let's break out what instruments we're hearing and study how we are moved by those elements.
Lead-Follow Precision:
While individual voice and partnered collaboration are core to Blues Dancing, there is always the underlying lead-follow current driving our partnered dancing. Come work with us on exercises to discover what you're actually communicating, and let's dive into the details of what each partner is asking for and responding with!
Momentum Transfer and Control (with Marc):
In this class, we'll work on leads and follows generating momentum and how we transfer it to our partner to increase dynamics. We'll also work on safely receiving that momentum to reshape and redirect it in fun ways that look and feel cool.
The Wilkersons will also be in the area at D.C.'s Backroom Blues (Thurs) and Lancaster Indigo Dance (Fri) and D.C.'s Archie's Barbershop (Sun) as well. So lots of fun dancing to be had!
